You will need identification to receive a free library card. A personal card is available from the age of six years but children under 16 require parental sponsorship. The card may be used in all local libraries.
Most libraries are automatic and you can check out and check in by your self. You can use your library card or your personal identity number and complete with your pin-code.
A lost card will be replaced on the payment of SEK 20 and on verification of identity. It is important to notify loss of a card so that it can be cancelled and security is maintained.
The borrower`s personal data are entered into the record of borrowers, which is common to all public libraries in Örnsköldsvik. Personal information is confidential and will not be disclosed to others.
The last due date is shown on your check out receipt. Loans are generally for a period of four weeks. Shorter periods apply for library materials such as magazines, DVD.s, video-games and books in high demand. Language courses may be borrowed for six weeks.
Extending the loan period
You can check due dates and renew loans on the internet:
Renewal is only possible if the borrowed material is not in demand.
You can reserve library items on the website or ask the library staff for help. A reserved book is to be collected within five days of advice from the library on its availability.
The Library also offers an interlibrary loan service to provide access to material which is not in stock locally. A charge of SEK 20 is made for books and SEK 50 for articles. Books usually arrive within 10-14 days, provided they are in stock at the lending library. Articles usually arrive within a week.
You are responsible for all items checked out on your card until returned and will be charged for any loss or damage. Your library privileges will be suspended if your unpaid charges are SEK 50 or more.
